More popularly known as Taman Mini, the Indonesia in miniature park is an extensive culture-based knowledge-cum-recreation park located in East Jakarta, where you can wonder at the large variety in architecture of the full-scale traditional houses from Indonesia's 34 provinces, showing the nation's great diversity in cultures and traditions. Here is the Minangkabau Rumah Gadang with its distinct saddle-shaped roof; the Tongkonan of Toraja, the Dayak Longhouses from Kalimantan and, of course, the typical Betawi Pavilion of Jakarta.


Covering a total area of 100 hectares, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah is dubbed "a whole country in one park" for here you will also find various museums that display Indonesia's many lifestyles, cultures, flora and fauna, there is a techno-center, a stamps museum and more.

There is an Orchid Garden, a Jasmine Garden, a Medicinal Herbs Garden, a Birdpark, Aquarium. The Fauna Museum is in the shape of a large Komodo Dragon. A special area is set aside for houses of worship: a mosque, a Catholic church, a Protestant church, a Hindu temple and a Chinese temple standing side by side, exemplifying Indonesia's tolerance and co-existence among people of different religions.

For children and family recreation, the Park has the Keong Emas (Golden snail) Imax theater, a Castle of Indonesian Children, similar to Disney's "It's a Small, Small World" and Snowbay an area offering water-based fun in different types pools. Of course there are also plenty of restaurants and eateries.

The latest addition to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah is the Hakka Indonesia Museum, located on the east side of this huge park, which was officially opened on 30 August 2014. It is a round building inspired by the Tulou houses of the Hakka in China. Consisting of three floors, the museum relates the story of the arrival of the Chinese from mainland China to the Indonesian islands, how they settled here and assimilated with the local population.

The 3 floors museum display: the Chinese in Indonesia, the Indonesian Hakka and the Yongding Hakka floor. There are also photographs of famous Indonesians of Chinese descent among whom are some of Indonesia's badminton legends: Susi Susanti and Alan Budikusuma; Jakarta's Acting Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, more popularly known as Ahok.

Transportation Access

Taman Mini Indonesia Indah approximately 25 kilometers from Central Jakarta or some five kilometers from Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport in Jakarta reached via motorway. Can be reached by public transport, taxi or rental car to be traveling more convenient.
